Welcome to Central Jersey Geocaching!

You have found the home of Central New Jersey's finest cachers, stashers & website crashers.

Jersey was too big for only a North and South group so the Central group was formed with the idea that we'll be the loose format, low maintenance group. The other groups are great but this leaves us more time for caching!

If you're brand new to the sport, here's a quick summary that answers the question "What is Geocaching?". It's more than using billion dollar government satellites to find junk in the woods!

Central Jersey Geocaching meets every Third Tuesday at 7:30 PM at Fuddruckers in New Brunswick. There's also a weekly chat in the Chat Room over lunch on Thursdays. If "eventual message" is more your thing, browse the Log Book - the official forum of Central Jersey.

We've been busy adding "required reading" content to the site - frequently asked questions, downloadable log books, buying advice and more. Also be sure to check out the Events Calendar, Relevant Hotlinks & Photo Gallery as well.

So, browse around if you like. When you're ready to sign up, we're happy to have you... but really... your time is better spent outdoors. Cool

What is Geocaching?

Geocaching is the art/sport of using a handheld GPS receiver to locate the hiding spot of hidden caches.

A geocache (pronounced GEE-oh-cash) is a small (hopefully waterproof) container containing at least a log book for you to sign when you find it. Caches often contain small items - trinkets, toys, key-chains, coins, etc - and cachers are encouraged to trade. We call this stuff "Swag".

Here's how it works from the beginning...

C of the M - March 2010 - Another Rt.18 Pedestrian Bridge

The Cache of the Month for March 2010 is AVGraphics' "Another Rt.18 Pedestrian Bridge" (GC223M9)

Hidden 01/02/2010 - Difficulty: 3 - Terrain: 1.5 - Size: Unspecified

Rt 18In the fall of 2009, the new pedestrian bridge across Route 18 was completed. AVGraphics didn't wait for someone else to claim the spot but got to work creating one of those caches that people will remember. Then he changed it and made it more creative. We might not ever know why this was built this way but we know a good hiding spot when we see one!

Accolades:
"
A clever piece of work!"
"This one only furthers the legend."
"Great camo job on this one, I love the way it worked out."
"An absolutely masterful hide."
"This one made me chuckle."

Can't say more without giving too much away. Enjoy the hunt and have fun!

The Cache of the Month is meant to highlight those fun, out-of-the-ordinary, standout caches so that all the area cachers can get an opportunity to learn about these caches and visit them. If you have any questions simply post your question or concern on the forum. We're always looking for suggestions for the next "CotM"!
