Cache of the Month 1 Year, 9 Months ago
New for 2009, a new way to look at the Cache of the Month. Similiar to how they've been doing it in the South Jersey and North New Jersey groups, the Central Jersey Cache Cuckoos will be putting our own twist on the C or the M!

Forming now, a C of the M Committee will be visiting and reviewing those outstanding and out of the ordinary caches. We will be seeking nominations for the Cache of the Month from any active Central Jersey Geocacher.

The Guidelines for nominating a cache are as follow:
• The cache must be a cache in Central Jersey (Middlesex, Monmouth, Mercer, Somerset, Union & Hunterdon counties). Caches in other nearby counties (Ocean, Burligton, Warren, Morris) maybe considered but in general those areas are covered by the other groups. But a good cacn is a good cache, so exceptions can always be made.
• Caches can be nominated by posting a note to a CJG Logbook forum thread, responding to this thread or the Recommended Caches thread or sending a note to one of the committee members
• The committee will review the nominations and select the Cache of the Month.
• The the cache will be written up and presented on the CJG site.
• Shameless self-promotion of your own caches is permitted
• Old caches and new caches alike can be nominated. We are just looking for caches with that "wow" factor.

The Cache of the Month is meant to highlight those fun, out-of-the-ordinary, standout caches so that all the members of the club can get an opportunity to learn about these caches and visit them.

The Committee

The Cache of the Month Committee consists of the following cachers:
• Ekitt10 (aka Nikcap)
• Ericles (Someone poke him in the chat and let him know)
• Your name here?
• Your name here?
• Your name here?

Please contact any of the committee members if you have any questions or simply post you question or concern here. Feel free to make comments and suggestions!

So, please think about those special caches you have visited and would recommend to your friends, and consider nominating them for Cache of the Month.

Nobody better poke me in the chat. Where's my chat again? I'm sure it doesn't like to get poked.

Great idea though. Lets get it goin!

It only took us six month to get this started, but the July C or the M has been chosen.

I nominate Darby's Dilemma for the August Cache of the Month. It is both conceptually excellent and well-crafted.

Re:Cache of the Month 1 Year ago
This forum will double as the Best of 2009 bookmark list when we approach the end of the year.

I've been caching outside of Central Jersey lately but I'm keeping my eyes open for new/exciting hides/locations. I suggest the CotM can alternate between new caches & classics that are worthy of recognition.

On that line of thought, I'd like to point out "Whose woods these are" is the oldest puzzle cache in Central Jersey (and the 3rd oldest in the state).

Central Jersey OWNS the oldest Virtual category with to top 7 oldest in the state including the famous "Six feet OVER?"

The Multi category belongs to Melvin's Multiple Madness as the 3rd oldest in the state but that cache has had enough recognition.

Re:Cache of the Month 11 Months, 4 Weeks ago
There are two that I have done recently that I thought were really well done.

The best one I have done recently is "Fire on the Mountain" in Watchung Reservation (GC16BAW). Its just barely in Central Jersey based on the Route 78 rule, but it was a really good one. Interesting background story, cool historic location, a creative and sort of sneaky final hide.

Another good one I did recently was "Cache 22" (GC1WAGN) in Bound Brook. Both very creative stages...just watch for the poison ivy on the final

Oh, I also concur that "Darby's Dilemma" that a previous cacher mentioned is worthy of recognition.

I agree with trowel32's suggestions. Both of these multis are well done. The little ones (and the big kids among us, myself included) are certain to enjoy Fire on the Mountain. Likewise, Cache-22 has an interesting and thematically-coherent conclusion.

Good suggestions! I'll have to get up to Watchung again soon. Darby's Dilemma, when re-enabled, is officially in the CotM queue.

We just came back from Watchung and best multi ever so far is Who is watching you - definitely worth being nominated as the cache of the month

You can join the South Jersey crew when we hit Watchung between the holidays (postponed from Black Friday). Lots of puzzle caches - still need to solve Cinco-2,3,4,5, Back to Basics, and Missile Command.

Is that an all out plea for help/relief ?

Re:Cache of the Month 8 Months, 4 Weeks ago
I would like to nominate Team ABC's (Eric and Heather's) Big Bad Wolf night cache for a future cache of the month (I guess that would be 2010 at this point).

www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.as...59-a00f-0ada71849d07

I thought the location was great...the hunt is a little sneaky, and of course I'm partial to night caches. This one is expecially awesome if you do it when the moon is full, or nearly full. Such a great view of the tidal marsh and it was all lit up in the moonlight.

Oh yeah - cool container too
